Adding another layer to draw on

The title says it all, adding another layer over the main way is a cool idea helps in drawing outlines and so.

Some day in the very far future this might be possible, for now, I'm gonna have to reject it.

Not because it is a bad idea but its simply too hard atm.

Adding multiple layers is something that I would like but I'm not sure yet how I want to implement.
